Purpose of the Job:
This position is suitable for a high achieving, young PhD graduate. The role will support the development of new intellectual property under the direct guidance of the most senior scientist (Research Fellow). The successful candidate will have a deep technical understanding of electrochemistry and materials. They must be a fast learner, top of class academically gifted and talented hands-on experimentalist. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a young scientist to develop under the guidance of one of the top scientists in the field, within a rapidly growing and successful technology licensing company.
Key Accountabilities:
* Producing concise and insightful summaries of the latest developments in the field.
* Conducting practical experiments in a range of different laboratories covering materials synthesis, ceramics processing, analytical, structural and electrochemical characterisation.
* Creating statistically sound analyses of the data.
* Generating functional models.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:
A PhD in a relevant field with experience in ceramics materials and electrochemistryProject management experience preferred.
* Understanding of and practised user of 6-sigma statistical tools preferred.
* Demonstrable problem-solving skills.
* Good communicator: capable of making concise summaries and quickly and accurately understanding the technical questions.
Internal and External Relationships
* Daily contact with team members in the Energy Materials (R&D), Research Fellow.
* Regular updates with the Materials Team lead, project managers and the Chief Scientific Officer.
* Working closely with the prototype manufacturing staff.
* Working closely with the Process and Characterisation teams within Energy Materials department to ensure that structures are properly characterised.
* Developing and maintaining relationships with external experts as necessary.
* Working with the IP team to codify new inventions.
* Intermittent contact with the CTO.
