Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust (BSUH) jointly run Hospital at Home (H@H) across Brighton and Hove, and areas in the acute Trust's footprint.

Are you looking to build on your skills as a Band 6 Nurse? Do you have experience of working in a developing service?

We are hoping to recruit an enthusiastic, self-directed and patient-focused Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join our dynamic team.

This is an exciting opportunity to experience delivery of new and innovative healthcare interventions in the community to complex patients who would previously have required an acute bed.

You will be working closely with the patient, their family and members of the multidisciplinary team together with the patient's consultant. The patient remains an inpatient in the acute Trust in a virtual ward.

Current pathways include the administration of intravenous antibiotic therapy (IVAB) up to three times a day, bronchiectasis admission avoidance, wound management (specifically NPWT), management of drains, and other associated clinical care for patients who would otherwise remain in hospital for their treatment.

We are currently working on the expansion of the service to support a wider cohort of patients receiving consultant-led treatment at home. We encourage staff to be involved in supporting and shaping the design of the service, with excellent care at the core so patients are able to return/stay at home as long as possible.

This provides opportunities for staff within the service to develop their clinical as well as non-clinical skills, e.g. change management and quality improvement skills as the service evolves.

We are looking for people with specialist nursing skills, e.g. surgical, tissue viability, cardiac and respiratory experience, to support these evolving pathways.

The service operating hours are 7am-8pm, with staggered shifts over seven days a week, and we can provide the opportunity for flexible shifts, long days and coordination weeks Monday-Friday 7am-3pm, every 6-8 weeks.

As the service evolves and as an employee of SCFT you will have the opportunity to access the following development opportunities:
• Clinical assessment modules
• Supervision training
• Leadership development/apprenticeships

Ideally, the successful applicant should have relevant experience within an acute and/or community setting. Being a car driver is essential, and we pay Agenda for Change mileage rates and provide parking permits (carer's badge) when visiting patients. You can also book a pool car if you are not a car owner, and we have the use of one of the Trust's electric bikes too.
