A very exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 School Nurse Practice Educator who is highly motivated and progressive to join our newly formed practice educator team who will work together fully focusing on staff development across the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme for Brighton & Hove and West Sussex. This is a full-time post although 4 days (30 hours) will be possible.

The HCP Practice Educator team will lead, develop and deliver innovative ways of promoting supportive and excellent learning environments for students, new and existing staff alike. A key activity will be overseeing learning for specialist practice and pre-registration nurses alongside internal staff development, including practice assessment as required by specific education programs, building strong links with our local universities and SCFT education team.

In addition, the role will include support to specific public health work streams that require oversight by experienced practitioners; for example, contributing to HCP standards, quality and development, and improving our digital and social media presence. The post holders will maintain expertise by working as a clinician for a proportion of the working week as well as reviewing national policies / guidance evaluating HCP compliance, writing and reviewing HCP guidance.

The role involves a significant contribution to service development and staff training needs; informing the annual training needs analysis and supporting career development needs for HCP staff and NMC students. Post holders are highly skilled and knowledgeable with an interest in and enthusiasm for education and learning and for supporting workforce development. The role would particularly suit someone with experience of supporting students or who has a relevant academic qualification in supporting students. or, the post-holder would be supported to undertake a qualification in education/supporting students.

The team will be based across the county with line management from by a HCP Clinical Service Manager. The team will meet together regularly as well as attending peer and one to one supervision, with opportunities to build and maintain individual and collective knowledge, skills and expertise.

Base preferably in Brighton & Hove but this can be negotiated within West Sussex as willingness to travel across the Trust will be necessary.

You will need to be an NMC registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse)
