Working across all College Campuses

 

We are seeking to appoint an ALS Manager to ensure that the allocation of Additional Learning and High Needs support meets the needs of students and enables all students to achieve and positively progress. You will be ensuring that student support packages are appropriate and regularly reviewed in line with quality timelines and statutory expectations.

 

You will be taking a lead on facilitating the EHCP process ensuring timely consultations and reviews and facilitating and driving high needs support with external stakeholders including funding agencies. 

 

You will be ensuring that students in receipt of ALS are regularly monitored in terms of attendance and progress and lead on interventions for students whose achievement is at risk ensuring that there are clear and regular communication with students/parents and carers.

 

You will also be required to manage support staff and conduct quality assurance drop-ins on staff to ensure that support is of a high and consistent quality.

 

You should be educated to degree level and hold a SENCO qualification (or be willing to undertake a qualification).  You should have extensive experience of managing staff and resources with significant experience of managing ALS services.  You should also have experience of working with students with disabilities and meeting their needs in an FE College environment with an awareness of the broad range of disabilities including ASC, dyslexia, visual and hearing impairments and physical disabilities. 

 

You will require experience of working with Local Authorities and external agencies and an understanding of the framework of the disabled students’ allowances.

 

Other qualities required will be the ability to build strong and productive relationships with academic and support staff and external agencies and stakeholders.  You will require effective advocacy skills to support young people with learning difficulties and disabilities. A creative approach to solving problems, effective interpersonal skills and integrity and discretion when handling confidential information is also essential.
