Senior Nurse - 18.75 hours per week/0.5 WTE

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated nurse to become an active member of our dynamic, multi-professional team supporting the rehabilitation of amputees and other patients. The role is based within the Sussex Rehabilitation Centre outpatient services at Brighton General Hospital.

The post holder will be part of the prosthetic service's multidisciplinary team (MDT) who provide a prosthetic limb service to amputees and people with congenital limb loss. The team also deals with pain management, wound healing and health screening to prevent further limb loss. The production, maintenance and repair of artificial limbs are done on site. The purpose of the service is to enable patients with upper and lower limb loss to achieve and sustain maximum possible mobility, dexterity and independence.

The role will also include working with the MDT as part of the neurorehabilitation outpatient service. This service provides assessment, treatment and advice to people with neurological impairment. The objectives of the service are to improve physical wellbeing, functional status and decrease the care needs of patients.

The post holder will work alongside other members of the MDT including Consultants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Counsellors, Healthcare Assistants and other support staff, and will liaise with colleagues in the acute and community sectors.

The Senior Nurse in the MDT assumes responsibility for all nursing activities at the centre including the holistic assessment of the care needs of patients. Screening and health promotion activities are a key part of the role.

This post is an ideal opportunity for an experienced nurse who enjoys a variety of tasks and working both autonomously and as part of an MDT.

The post is part time and the pattern of working throughout the week is negotiable but will be based on the outpatient clinics, which largely take place in the mornings.

This post may close earlier than the published closing date if sufficient applications are received.
