Sussex Interpreting Services is a social enterprise and registered charity based in Brighton.

We work in partnership with the NHS, local authorities and other public and third sector organisations to ensure people with language support needs have full access to publicly funded services.

We help approximately 4500 people in Brighton and Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex, and deliver Community Interpreting, Translation, Advocacy, Social Prescribing, Befriending, Health Promotion and Community Engagement.  We are proud of our track record in securing the Customer Service Excellence award.

The principle purpose of the role is to work as part of a Coordination Team at the heart of service delivery, booking freelance linguists for remote and face-to-face health and social care appointments, managing customer queries online and over the telephone, and liaising with our services users, many of whom have limited spoken English.  This is a fast paced, demanding and constantly responsive role.  

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join our staff team as a Service Coordinator.  We are looking for a highly organised and customer focused individual, with initiative, excellent communication and diplomacy skills.  You will need good IT and data entry skills.  You will work closely with three other Coordinators and must be an effective team player with a can do approach and ability to collaborate to overcome challenges.

Note: All new employees are appointed to the bottom of the applicable salary scale.

The successful candidate will be required to work on Monday and Friday with the remainder of hours/ days to be mutually agreed.

The post holder will need to be flexible, working from our offices in Community Base or from home, or a blended approach, depending on Government Guidance and business requirements.
