A fully funded training opportunity to qualify as a registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) School Nurse is now open to all qualified nurses active on Part 1 of the NMC register.

Starting in September 2021, you will be given a fixed term contract with our Trust to undertake a one year full time degree course to complete the BSc/MSc Specialist Community Public Health Nurse course (School Nursing) at the University of Brighton. Please note that there will not be the opportunity to undertake this part time, as it is a demanding course combining academic study with developing the clinical skills and knowledge to become a SCPHN School Nurse. Candidates must be prepared for this level of commitment, including willingness to travel across a very large geographical Trust.

Sponsorship will be paid at Band 5 salary up to a maximum of Point 5. depending on current experience; no incremental uplift is paid for duration of this training contract. Successful completion of the course will lead to registration on Part 3 of the NMC register, an NMC recordable qualification, and eligibility to apply for a post as an SCPHN School Nurse.

If you are selected for interview you will be contacted within four weeks of the closing date. When applying for this post it is essential that you read the Job Description and Person Specification and use the 'supporting information' space to demonstrate how your skills, knowledge and experience meet the requirements of the Person Specification, as your application will be judged against this. Please note that while the advert specifies the University of Brighton as the base, clinical placements can be anywhere in West Sussex and Brighton and Hove.

Successful candidates will also need to apply to the University of Brighton separately and meet the academic entry requirements for the course. We work closely with the university to offer students a high level of support and clinical experiences throughout the year.

Interviews will take place on the 21st June.

This post may close earlier than the published closing date if sufficient applications are received.

Correspondence relating to this vacancy will be conducted electronically. If you have not heard from us within two weeks please assume that your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. Please ensure that you check your emails, including your junk folder, on a regular basis. References will be requested electronically as well; please ensure you provide correct contact details for referees.
