Waste Coordinator - 22.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust's award winning Care Without Carbon Team.

Reporting to the Sustainability and Environment Manager the Waste Coordinator will play a key role in delivering Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust's (SCFT) multi award-winning sustainability programme, Care Without Carbon (CWC). This will include work both within SCFT and its partner organisations in Sussex, Surrey and beyond.

Specifically, the postholder will be responsible for developing and implementing project work across a number of core areas of the CWC programme, including (but not limited to):
  • Waste management - coordinating the implementation of the Trust's Waste Management Policy across SCFT and any partner healthcare organisations as required. This includes management of day-to-day waste queries, liaison with waste contractors, delivering training to staff, maintaining legal compliance with respect to relevant waste management regulations and coordinating and supporting waste management audits.
  • Waste projects - identifying opportunities for and supporting the design and delivery of waste projects that further the Trusts goals around waste management and circular economy.
  • Waste and other reporting - taking responsibility for key aspects of the team's internal and external waste and other reporting processes, including designing and managing reporting tools, interrogating and interpreting waste related data and delivering Key Performance Indicators relating to waste.
  • Circular Economy - responsible for the day to day management of the Trust's reuse and redistribution programme; working closely with the Environment and Sustainability Manager and the Trust's Procurement Team to support the measurement, reduction and reporting of the environmental footprint of the Trust's supply chain;
  • Assisting with other areas of work within the CWC team as required, including the trust's sustainability engagement programme.
