Job Details
Working alongside another chef in our cafe this role is quite varied as we make everything in house.
- From helping keep the kitchen clean
- Doing all checks for temperatures of equipment
- Washing up
- Prepping the standard menu, we have including sandwiches, jacket potatoes and breakfast
- Menu and specials costing and development
- Prepare specials daily including mains and desserts
- Some baking of cakes and traybakes for the front counter
We make our own ice cream, too as well as preserves, chutneys and relishes
In the winter we have soups and warming dishes on the menu and salads and lighter dishes in summer.
We cook a lot of fresh fish, meat and cater for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets. Working to plan menus for outside events and seasonal dishes.
The kitchen is all new and light and airy and you can talk to the customers, many of which are regularly in the café.

Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (MET) was created from the merger of City College Brighton and Northbrook College Sussex. It is the college for our City and our region and draws on 150 years of heritage, history and experience.
