Vacancy description
Your role will involve:
- Understanding health and safety legislation, codes of practice and safe working practices
- Understanding the selection, planning, installation, testing, commissioning and de-commissioning, service maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair techniques on cold water, hot water, central heating, above ground drainage and rain water systems
- Understanding installation and testing techniques for electrical components and control systems on plumbing and domestic heating systems
- Understand scientific plumbing, domestic heating and mechanical principles
- Understand the principles of domestic mechanical environmental technology systems
- Understand the principles of fuel combustion, ventilation and fluing arrangements within a domestic environment
- Understand the principles of high-quality customer service and establishing the needs of others (colleagues, customers and other stakeholders). Respect the working environment including customer's properties
- Understand different communication methods, how to communicate in a clear, articulate and appropriate manner and how to adapt communication styles to suit different situations

Desired qualifications
A level 2 qualification in English and maths would be an advantage. However, if you don't hold such a qualification you will have these subjects included in the apprenticeship.

We operate across a wide geographic area and whilst we understand that an apprentice may not be able to drive, we would hope that you will be willing to learn and have your own transport over time.

- Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician Apprenticeship Standard
You will be employed full time by the business and you will have 20% of your paid time in off the job learning which will include day release at East Sussex College in Eastbourne. You will learn all aspects of plumbing and heating for domestic systems including health and safety and current legislation.
Your apprenticeship will be completed with an End Point Assessment which involves:
- A multiple choice test
- A design project
- A practical installation test
- A practical application test
- A professional discussion
The End Point Assessment is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction
