Here at TPA we are very excited to be able offer the position of Project Engineer - Test Platforms

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain the design packs and specifications for all Test Platforms.
  • Responsible for the management of Test Platform lifecycle management, including maintenance, servicing, cleaning and recovery of specific components and materials at the end of life.
  • Ensure the Test Platform requirements are defined and documented.
  • Lead the engineering and design of Test Platforms to meet the requirements.
  • Drive technical developments to improve quality, reliability and efficiency of Test Platforms.
  • Work with the Procurement Team to define safety stock levels, lead prototype procurement, and handover of released designs.
  • Manage the release and updates to design information in line with the company’s change control process, and develop change control processes suitable for Test Equipment.
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of arising issues affecting the Test Platforms.
  • Create and manage databases for all Test Platforms including part numbers and technical performance data

Key Accountabilities:

  • Test Operations
    • Test our associated systems.
    • Develop and execute test plans.
    • Test sequence coding.
    • Installation of test units.
    • -Ensure auditable data is produced in line with company quality processes.
    • Review and analyse test data.
    • Produce test reports and present findings and recommendations.
    • Provide accurate daily updates to test management.
  • Test Engineering
    • Design and development of test stands to meet reliability objectives.
    • Fault finding, issue investigation and improvement projects.
    • Support Senior Test Engineers in work package planning.
    • Create work instructions and standard operating procedures.
    • Create risk assessments.

Essential requirements and core competencies to be successful in the role include: 

  • Minimum 3 years’ post graduate industrial experience.
  • Experience of the design of mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Experience of requirements definition.
  • Experience of supplier and sub-contractor relationship management
  • BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng level in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD Systems and PDM tools
  • Ability to visualise mechanical design solutions and develop multiple concepts.
  • Ability to visualise and summarise data, perform basic sense checking, identify inconsistencies and perform basic thermodynamic calculations, e.g. efficiency, simple heat balances.
  • Ability to read and produce technical documents including mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and P&IDs.
  • Sound report writing skills and the ability to communicate results and deliver presentations to colleagues and management.
  • Grasp new concepts quickly and develop a good working knowledge of our products and their operation.

This role requires working flexible hours which may include occasional weekends
