B&CE have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Technician to join the growing team. You will work within a thriving function who have guided B&CE’s growth to become a leading provider within workplace pensions.
Since being introduced to the market in 2011, The People’s Pension has grown to welcome over 5 million members and manages around £12billion worth of our members assets and is expected to carry on its growth over the next 5 years.
The purpose of the Finance Operations team is to ensure that all accounting entries for the B&CE Group of companies are completed accurately and in a timely fashion. Timelines are dictated by regulatory, statutory or local guidelines and these are adhered to at all times. Control is maintained and demonstrated by preparing daily, monthly, and annual reconciliations, and reviewing the output on a regular basis.
The successful candidate will form an integral part of the team, completing and also ensuring with their colleagues that all accounting entries for the B&CE Group have been completed. The B&CE Group of companies are divided into two parts, Corporate which administers the pension funds on behalf of its members and the Pensions entities who are the custodians of the members investments.
There is a collective responsibility within the team to complete the daily, weekly, monthly and annual tasks listed but by no means restricted to:
• Assist the Senior Finance Technician in the Balance Sheet reconciliation process and transactional accounting for the B&CE Pension entities, managing workload in line with internal timetables and deadlines
• Maintain and correctly apply internal controls around transactional processes and seek opportunities to implement improvements going forward
• Support the transactions team in the collective responsibility of completion of the daily, weekly, monthly and annual tasks listed, but not restricted to:
• TPP Daily bank reconciliations
• Monthly journal preparation, and input
• Intra Group invoicing and settlement
• Investment revaluation, reconciliation and administration
• Monthly trial balance review
• HSBC input and authorisation
• Ad-Hoc requests from other Finance and B&CE departments

We would like, as a minimum for you to have experience in the following:
• Working in a Controls led Finance department
• Understanding of a General and Sub-ledger systems and accounting principles
• Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
• MS Office (Excel/Word)
Professional qualification (Desirable)
• AAT Level 4 study/qualification or equivalent
