Position - Residential Support Worker - both 38 and 52 week contracts available

Location - Brighton and Seaford

Salary - £17,264 p.a for term time only. £19,094 p.a for all year

Hours - both 38 (term time) (Seaford and Brighton) and 52 week contracts (Brighton only)

About the company - this education establishment has been around for over 130 years and was initially opened as a seaside convalescent home in 1886 to care for the homeless coming from the East and South-East of London. In 1956 it transformed into a school to care for children with Learning Disabilities. A lot has changed since then and nowadays is both a school and college catering for children and young people aged between 7 and 25 years. This charity provides education, care and therapy for learners with complex behaviours. They concentrate their work around the following 5 areas; well-being, communication, employability, independence and skills. They also promote the following; values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different backgrounds. They encourage the learners' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and where appropriate, learners are supported to explore personal, social and ethical issues within safe and supportive environments.

About the job - you will be supporting vulnerable young people with before and after school residential activities and accessing the community. Duties will include cooking, shopping, breakfast and evening meal routine, assisitng with homeworks and accessing the community

About the service - the school is based in Seaford and the college in Brighton and the residential houses are nearby and also on the grounds of both.

Type of person required - we are looking for people with at least basic understanding of what it is to care for vulnerable people and have the capability and compassion to work with challenging behaviour

Qualifications/Education background required - Grace C or above in Maths and English
