HR Advisor - Part Time

Job overview

  • The purpose of this role is to provide high quality HR advice and support to managers and staff, enable managers to build an inclusive, attractive, effective and safe culture and engage their staff, and effectively manage absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance cases. 
  • We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed, and professional HR generalist, with excellent employee relations and organisational change experience gained in a fast paced and challenging environment. Reporting to the HR Business Partner, the HR Advisor will provide sound HR advice and guidance to managers, including the Trust’s HR policies and procedures - disciplinary/capability, grievance, absence management, flexible working, and will advise on NHS terms and conditions of service.

Main duties of the job

A fantastically rewarding part-time opportunity has arisen which will test your knowledge of employment law and best practice, whilst giving you the autonomy to further develop your career. The post-holders will take ownership of a varied caseload, support organisational change and will need to have good time management and prioritisation skills. Ideally fully CIPD qualified, you will thrive on delivering a professional, customer-focused HR service that supports the Trust’s vision and values.

The successful applicant will be required to travel (when Covid restrictions are lifted)  and will need to travel regionally to locations across Surrey, Sussex and Kent, therefore a full driving licence is essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Provide high quality HR advice to managers and operational management teams that drives the achievement of SECAmb’s organisational strategy, objectives, culture and values and builds an inclusive and diverse workforce
  • Advise and support managers on investigations, including grievance,
    disciplinary, and bullying and harassment cases
  • Provide coaching and feedback to support managers to provide high quality people leadership and people management, and role model SECAmb’s desired culture and values
  • Provide expert HR advice to enable operational managers to build and sustain high engagement and improve retention
  • Provide advice and support to managers on change management, including restructuring, designing and developing new roles or changes to roles, and developing job descriptions
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives as required 
  • Actively contribute to the development of SECAmb’s desired culture within the team and the wider organisation

Person specification Skills Essential criteria

  • CIPD or equivalent experience
  • In-depth knowledge of HR legislation

Experience Essential criteria

  • Experience of providing HR advice on complex and sensitive issues to managers
  • Experience in handling grievance and disciplinary, performance management and sickness absence issues
