Job overview

Immunisation Programme Assistant (Crawley) - 37.5 hours per week

An opportunity has arisen for Band 3 Immunisation Programme Assistants to join our school-aged Immunisation Service. These posts are for a period of up to five months starting in by November 2021.

Main duties of the job

The vacancies are full time, only although we are open to discussions with part time applicants (minimum 22.5 hours). The SCFT Immunisation Service vaccinates children in schools and clinics across West Sussex, East Sussex and Brighton and Hove.

Although these posts are based within the Crawley team our whole service approach requires joint working across the whole of Sussex.

Working for our organisation

Our innovative and dynamic Immunisation teams are dedicated to improving immunisation uptake and delivering the national evidence-based Schools' Immunisation Programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The role will include providing clerical and clinical support in schools, , bases, clinics and patients' homes. You will also be working with hard to reach groups such as travellers and children who are looked after. It is an exciting role as our programmes incorporate the flu vaccinations that are being offered to school children in Primary and Secondary schools, addition to our senior school vaccination programmes.

The successful candidates will prepare the documentation and assist with the running of the vaccination sessions, and be expected to accurately process the completed session paperwork.

The ability to communicate well and remain calm at busy immunisation sessions is essential, as one aspect of the role is providing reassurance to anxious children.

You will need to demonstrate your familiarity with Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience of data-inputting is preferable but training will be given. Our Service uses an online consent process so IT skills are vital.

We welcome applicants who can demonstrate a willingness to work flexibly and co-operatively with colleagues both within their own team and the wider multidisciplinary teams across the whole SCFT area. We are looking for people who are motivated, conscientious and committed to supporting us to maintain high vaccination coverage across Sussex.

The role requires core working hours of 8am-4pm, with flexibility at either end of the day for packing of vaccines and clinic cover (7/7.30 am to pack on a team rota basis). You will also cover one Saturday clinic per term.

All team members support the whole of the SCFT Immunisation Service, so you must be a car owner/driver and be willing to travel to clinics and schools within Sussex.
