Support Worker

Mayfield Children's Home is a specialist home looking after children with learning disabilities and we’re looking for caring and empathetic people to join our friendly team of Support Workers.


Full time Support Worker average annual earnings: £20,361 – £22,892
Full time (40 hours) or Part time (24 or 32 hour contracts) available


Our staff are our best asset and you will receive:
• Average annual, full-time earnings: £20,361 – £22,892.
• Increased pay at weekends and bank holidays.
• Christmas Day and New Year’s Day paid at double your basic rate.
• 28 days’ annual holiday with additional days added for long term service.
• Extensive, free of charge training and development to all Support Workers including supporting unqualified
staff to achieve their Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
• Pension with 3% employer contribution.
• Meals are provided on shift.
• Access to confidential, independent counselling, private GP and physiotherapy services.
• £275 bonus if you refer a friend to work with us (subject to terms & conditions).
• Free, enhanced DBS application and update service.
• Free membership to the Blue Light key worker discount scheme.


Key responsibilities:
• Have a fun and enthusiastic attitude to supporting the children in the home and out in the community.
• Maintain a homely environment. This might include purchasing a weekly grocery shop and preparing nutritious meals/snacks to eat.
• Support the children with routine tasks and personal care whilst treating them with respect and dignity.
• Administer medication (with training/guidance).
• Where challenging behaviours occur, use training guidelines and strategies to maintain boundaries and a safe environment for all.
• Maintain a high level of report writing, e.g. daily reports, incident reports and accident reports.
• Ensure a high standard of cleanliness/hygiene through tidying, cleaning, laundry and other duties.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of others.
Previous Support Worker experience is useful but not essential as full training and support will be given but we are looking for the following requirements:


• You will have exceptional communication skills and a caring nature
• You will be happy to work shifts and be available to work at weekends and on bank holidays (on a rota basis).
• You must have a clean manual driving licence for over a year and be willing/confident to drive large company car to take the children out and about.
