Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Senior Clinical nurse to join the Worthing CAMHS team. . You will work as part of an MDT including Clinical Psychologists, Nursing, Consultant Psychiatrists, Social workers, Child Psychotherapists and Family Psychotherapy. The role will work with young people who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health conditions offering assessment and interventions. We focus on Evidence based practice, robust care-planning and risk assessments and work closely with other key agencies such as Education and Social Care.

Main duties of the job

You will have good quality supervision and the role will require supervision of junior nurses.

You will be part of a strong multidisciplinary team, receiving high standards of supervision.

Our services build on our CYP-IAPT learning and 'deliver with and deliver well' and we have built the infrastructure to sustain this with our collaborative work with our service users who help shape our transformation with their lived experience. Our psychology and intern infrastructure support the meaningful use of the service wide outcome measures framework.

Worthing Children Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) has recently received funding to develop and expand the fantastic services we offer to young people in our community. We work with a range of children and young people who present with a multitude of mental health problems.

We have a new team manager and have received significant investment to support us to deliver specialist interventions and treatments to children and adolescents in Worthing and the surrounding areas. We have a culture of support and compassion and we believe that every one of our team members has a crucial part to play in the services that we provide. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will provide specialist assessments and nursing interventions to young people in CAMHS. The post-holder will liaise with other organisations and professionals to promote communication and good practice; be able to undertake audit activity and supervision to other staff in service area/care group. Have an understanding of psychosocial interventions to include psychoeducation, recovery action plans and discharge planning. The role will include working with young people to provide assessments, duty cover where needed, interventions and robust care-planning and risk assessments with young people and their families.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health / LD/ Adult) appropriate to the job role.
  • Degree/diploma level supplemented by specialist qualification, training, experience, courses to masters level equivalent relevant to the care group
  • Evidence of post registration training in relevant service area
  • Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent

Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
  • Extensive post qualifying experience in relevant service area
  • Experience of supervising staff and students
  • Able to manage a caseload of patients with complex mental health needs
  • Comprehensive knowledge of interventions specific to service area
