Job overview
We are looking for a positive, resilient, compassionate, enthusiastic Housekeeper with good organisational and interpersonal skills to support the ward team in delivering an exceptional standard of care to our service users. This post is being offered as a part time substantive role.
The post holder will work as part of the ward team by contributing to the provision of a comfortable and effective stay for patients. To ensure that the ward is clean and tidy, that patient's food and provisions are delivered correctly, that repairs, maintenance, linen services and consumables are available to meet the requirements of patients and visitors. To be the Carers lead for Amberstone.
Working within a supportive clinically led team, you will have the opportunity to really work in partnership with patients - engaging, supporting and developing a relationship which really enables the recovery process. With a real commitment to improving care delivery, as part of our team you will be supporting quality improvements and initiatives that will enhance the patient experience.
Main duties of the job
Catering - Key liaison with the CaterinDepartment. Ensure food orders are completed, emailed to Catering Department weekly. To serve all main meals to patients.
Monitor daily fridge temperatures and ensuring that outdated or unlabelled food is disposed of.
Domestic Issues - Key liaison with Domestic Department.
Assist in maintaining the Standards of Cleanliness on the ward,
Work with Domestic Supervisor/Admin Team leader to ensure bi-monthly audits are carried out in accordance with Standards of Cleanliness in Hospitals.
Assist on bed making for new admissions and on a general day-to-day basis.
To undertake 'vacate cleans' to ensure bed areas are prepared for new patients.
Estates Issues
Liaise with Estates direct to establish progress of works as appropriate and follow-up if not completed. Ensure broken equipment is removed from the ward and Estates team are informed via 'Job done'.
Safety checks on the ward, checking and removing items on the ward that make it unsafe.
Infection Control
To ensure the wards meet the Infection Control standards and partake in the annual Infection Control Audits
Linen - Ordering and collecting of linen. Ensuring adequate linen is available.
To assist with patient laundry if required.
Carers Lead Role
Lead responsibility to ensure Carer engagement.

Amberstone is a 28 bed Recovery and Rehabilitation unit, situated in rural East Sussex and provides rehabilitation for adults who are recovering from serious mental illness. The focus is to enable people to reach their full potential and achieve a smooth transition into the community. The ward works closely with Community Rehabilitation colleagues as an integral part of the award winning East Sussex Rehabilitation Pathway.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To establish and maintain good working relationships with Nursing, Medical, OT, Clerical, Catering, Domestic and Estates staff in order to provide a friendly, clean and comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff working on the ward. To be the carers lead for Amberstone.
Ensure effective communication and teamwork with the staff and patients on the Ward is maintained. Attend Ward Meetings and Estates & Facilities Quality Circle meetings.
Be the key liaison for patients' meet and greet patients on arrival. Ensure Housekeeper Orientation Checklist is completed within 1 day of admission, provide general information for patients and visitors and to ensure information is uploaded onto Care Notes. Assist Nursing Assistants with the taking of photos and that they are attached to Medicine Cards.
Covid-19 full vaccination may be a condition of employment for this role, unless an exemption applies. The successful applicant may have contact with vulnerable service users and we will therefore seek proof of being fully vaccinated during the recruitment process
