Introduction

The Sussex Health and Care Partnership brings together the organisations involved in the planning and provision of health and care services across the region. This includes CCGs, acute hospital trusts, mental health, community services, and local authorities.

Together they are focused on how the NHS and social care can work together to improve and join-up services to meet the changing needs of all of the people who live in our area. We want to do more to prevent illness, support people to manage existing health conditions and to stay independent. To do this we need seamless health and social care services.

This is a partnership and a new way of working. It ensures that all the health and care organisations in Sussex are working together in a joined-up way.

Main duties of the job

The ICS Mental Health Project Manager will work as part of a dynamic ICS core team supporting Sussex mental health transformation programmes with a specific focus on helping to develop, maintain and progress plans and associated project documentation that will see success in seeing more for people with severe mental health illnesses receiving physical health checks.

The post holder will support with preparation and implementation of the Physical Health Checks Programme and ensuring the upkeep of the reporting system including completing QIA's and EHIA's as required.

The Mental Health Collaborative are recruiting a project manager to support delivery of the Physical Health Checks (PHC) for people with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) transformation programme which aims to enable 60% of people on the SMI register to receive a PHC in 2021/22.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • You will be responsible for the definition, initiation and delivery of a number of projects within agreed workstream(s) including managing the budget and resources for it as required.
  • You will be required to maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external, clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met.
  • You will participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services and initiatives to provide, information and analytical advice and expertise.
  • Support the Programme Lead with the management of the their workstream and programme of work.
  • Present information and issues, explaining highly complex issues, to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain appropriate project documentation including, highlight reports, exception reports, risk logs, issues logs, Project Initiation Documents, Project Plans, etc.
  • Report to the Programme Lead and to the appropriate Project/Programme meetings with progress of the project(s) within the post holder's area of responsibility, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Manage the project workload of all assigned project resources, securing their time from colleagues and peers across the ICS.
  • Support and help coordinate the activities of the Project Officer in relation to the project(s) within the post holder's area of responsibility.
  • Manage any supplier input into project delivery ensuring that they deliver in line with required timescales.
  • Manage delegated project budgets in line with the approved Business Case and the overall Programme budget.
  • Contribute to the definition of new projects including the writing of Project Briefs, Business Cases, etc. upon request of the Programme Manager.
  • You will Manage your own professional development, keeping up-to-date with Project Management methodology (PRINCE2) and helping ensure best practice is used in the management of all projects.
  • Help and assist fellow project managers in the delivery of their projects giving advice and guidance where necessary.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Demonstrated experience of managing projects in complex and challenging environments, including all stages: Initiation, startup, planning, execution, benefits realisation and closure.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Healthcare environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to plan in detail projects within their remit, identifying activities required, timescales and resources.
