Would you like an exciting role as a part-time assistant within an established and successful fundraising team?

Chailey Heritage Foundation have an exciting opportunity for an individual with the right skills, personality, and enthusiasm to help the fundraising department reach their ambitious income targets. The fundraising team at CHF have a long track record of delivering transformational projects that improve the lives of our amazing young people with complex neurodisabilities.

Reporting to, and working closely with the fundraising manager, the fundraising assistant will help to promote the fundraising activity by producing copy for newsletters, websites and other fundraising resources as well as supporting the community & events fundraiser and the rest of the team with a wide range of research, fundraising activities and events.

The Role

General

Handling phone calls from members of the public, colleagues, supporters and volunteers and dealing with them as appropriate.

Meeting and greeting supporters at all levels of seniority.

Supporting the community & events fundraiser and the fundraising manager with research, attending and contributing to fundraising team meetings.

Community & Events

Supporting the fundraising team

Representing Chailey Heritage Foundation at events

Supporting the fundraising team with distributing event invitations and deal with coordinating responses in a timely manner.

Sourcing raffle and auction prizes from local businesses.

Other Fundraising

Working with the fundraising manager promote and administer the animal sponsorship programme that supports the charity’s therapeutic farm, Patchwork Farm helping to generate income.

Design and create flyers, posters and other ad hoc print materials for fundraising events and appeals.

Write fundraising content for our website to include fundraising campaigns, appeals, news and events.

Newsletter / Mailings

Assisting the fundraising manager in producing engaging fundraising content for foundation newsletters within deadlines.

Producing reports demonstrating information such as distribution numbers, open rates of e-newsletters and share with the team on a regular basis.

Assisting the fundraising team with distribution of event invitations either by post or email.

The Person

  • Educated to A level, or equivalent and good command of English and Maths (minimum GCSE level C, or equivalent)
  • Proficient keyboard skills with a high level of accuracy and good command of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Numerate with ability to understand and reconcile figures 
  • Computer literate with good understanding of social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter)
  • Experience of using CRM systems
  • Able to devise spreadsheets/to assist with analysis and drafting of reports
  • Experience of working as part of a team and to cover as required if staffing the office alone
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels
  • Ability to write engaging copy for digital and print.
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent level of numeracy and literacy
  • Ability to liaise with members of the public and CHF staff at all levels (including the Head teacher, Heads of Department and Accounts Department)
  • Logical and methodical in approach to work, and ability to work on own initiative while following line manager’s instructions
  • Ability to manage own workload, meeting targets and deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task when required
  • Ability to work under pressure

This is an exciting role for an enthusiastic candidate for 16 hours per week (0.4 FTE), mainly working in the fundraising office but with some flexibility to work from home on occasion. Due to the nature of the role there will be a need to work outside of office hours from time to time to support fundraising events that happen at weekends and in the evening.
