Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic Mental Health Practitioner to join our well-established and innovative Sussex CAMHS Crisis Team (Urgent Help Service). As a mental health practitioner, your goal is to offer intensive support and risk management to young people in the community at times of crisis, and to minimise the number of young people admitted to inpatient mental health units. For those young people who do require an inpatient admission, our aim is to help reduce the length of these admissions and support a timely discharge.

You will be joining a friendly, supportive and creative multi-disciplinary team. Our core business includes assessing young people's mental health, including attention to risk management and care planning, and working with families and the wider systems that support these young people.

This post offers a Golden Hello, or a Relocation package up to a maximum of £2000. (pro rata applies and subject to terms and conditions. Please see attached Protocol document).

Main duties of the job

As a Mental Health Practitioner in our team you will provide specialist crisis interventions for children and young people referred into our service, including some home treatment work. Our team is responsible for covering all of Sussex, working across home, school and community settings. You will have the flexibility to manage your workload in the community, however you will be expected to spend some time working from the central team base at Chalkhill hospital in Haywards Heath as part of the duty team.

Contributing to the management of a team caseload of clients with complex needs, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, which will be delivered mainly in the home or community setting. We follow a multi-disciplinary approach and as such you will provide specialist assessment and intervention with specific responsibilities regarding the acute care pathway.
