Chichester Children Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) has recently received funding to develop and expand the fantastic services we offer to young people in our community. We work with a range of children and young people who present with a multitude of mental health problems.

We have a new team manager and have received significant investment to support us to deliver specialist interventions and treatments to children and adolescents in Worthing and the surrounding areas. Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate band 8a Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our friendly CAMHS team in Chichester, West Sussex 3 days per week.We are very proud of our strong clinical psychology structure across West Sussex and our team in Chichester has an enthusiastic team of qualified psychologists across all bandings, as well as assistant psychologists. We also support trainee clinical psychologists and Undergraduate placements and currently going through a service expansion.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to have well developed assessment, intervention and formulation skills in a range of psychological models, including CBT, systemic and attachment-based models and to be able to apply them to a wide variety of complex co-morbid presentations. The post holder will be expected to take a clinical leadership role within the teams and to have supervisory experience.Supervision responsibilities will include supervision of Band 7 Clinical Psychologists, Trainees, Assistant Psychologists, Psychology Undergraduates and other colleagues as appropriate to specialty and experience

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will join the other psychologists in providing assessments, individual and group interventions and consultation using a range of therapeutic approaches including CBT, systemic, EMDR and DBT. You will work closely with their team colleagues, the 8b and 8c Clinical Psychologists, as well as the Locality Managers. You will also receive high standards of supervision including secondary supervision packages in CBT, EMDR, DBT, ASC and group work.

The post holder will be a member of the wider Tier 3 CAMHS and Psychology service, which also includes Horsham CAMHS. CAMHS are involved in a number of innovative audit and evaluation projects, run groups such as parent/carer anxiety groups and DBT and provide training to PsychD courses and the SPFT New to CAMHS training.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained before 1996 or outside the UK*] as approved by the HCPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
  • *For forensic psychologists working in forensic settings: Masters degree (with the award of the British Psychological Society qualification in forensic psychology or equivalent).
  • Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC).

- Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings
  • Demonstrate specialist experience gained postqualification of working as an applied psychologist with evidence of having received a substantial amount of clinical supervision (normally in the region of approximately 50 hours
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
  • Experience of the application of applied psychology in different cultural contexts and experience of working within a multicultural framework
  • Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care
  • Experience or demonstrable knowledge of working with the particular client group served by the team/service
  • Knowledge of guidance and legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc)
