Job Details

  • To organise and provide high quality administrative support for the Trust Secretariat, including the Board, Committee meetings and the Council of Governors. This includes the ability to take minutes to a high standard, to accurately record actions and decisions, and to ensure that actions are progressed and reported back in a timely manner.
  • To provide an effective channel of communication with all relevant stakeholders, using excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including sometimes complex and sensitive issues.
  • To work flexibly for one or more senior managers in the Trust Secretariat as required.
  • To undertake a full range of business support and administration duties.
  • To work as part of the Trust Secretariat team, supporting the Directors and the Council of Governors and providing cover for colleagues as required.
  • To make suggestions for improvements to working practice, showing understanding of implications beyond the immediate environment (e.g. impact on clients, suppliers, other parts of the organisation).
  • Undertake annual statutory and mandatory training in line with SCFT policies

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Business administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector. The role may involve working independently, or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. Business administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities.

Duration:
The apprenticeship will typically take between 12 and 18 months to complete.

Level:
This apprenticeship standard is at Level 3.

Qualifications:
Where a business administrator has not already achieved Level 2 English and Maths, this must be done before taking the end-point assessment.

Career progression:
The administration role may be a gateway to further career opportunities, such as management or senior support roles.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There is the opportunity for a full time job at the end of the apprenticeship for the right candidate.

About Brighton MET (formerly City College Brighton and Hove)

Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (MET) was created from the merger of City College Brighton and Northbrook College Sussex. It is the college for our City and our region and draws on 150 years of heritage, history and experience.

The MET offers a comprehensive range of qualifications for 16 year olds leaving school, full and part time courses for adults, apprenticeships, professional qualifications and university degrees.
