Radar Development Engineer
Crawley/Home - Hybrid role
Primary Purpose of the Role:
The Radar Development Engineer will become a key member, or team leader, for our Radar, and Radar Processing development teams supporting our radar products/programmes. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of domain knowledge and development experience developing radar capability. That experience will be gained in developing and delivering into service capabilities including situational awareness, target identification and tracking for airborne and/or maritime applications. The initial project deployment will be on the Crowsnest project.
Role Definition:
Define and manage system requirements and performance targets for the radar processing system (including the radar equipment, signal processing, algorithm development and interfacing to the HMI).
Define and maintain the ‘system design’ for the radar capability, ensuring the design is documented and radar sub-system requirements are defined and maintained.
Conduct appropriate design-phase validation/modelling to validate the design and requirements. Define requirements for trials activities as necessary to obtain data for model validation and to support the development process.
Provide expert support to the definition, implementation and validation of the radar sub-systems working with the Software and Hardware Development teams as required.
Plan and execute the radar sub-system integration and verification/qualification of the radar system
Define the acceptance method, and lead the acceptance of, the radar system requirements and performance.
Ensure early identification and mitigation of development risks and issues.
Support/lead customer and user engagement as required in relation to the development of the radar system.
Candidate Profile
Skills
Demonstrable technical knowledge in developing radar solutions in a relevant domain (or be able to show transferable skills from other domains).
Good customer and supplier engagement skills.
Experience
Significant Radar system/product development experience and knowledge gained good understanding of the interfaces to Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering and System Integration & Test.
Significant experience in the definition and implementation of Radar processing algorithms/modes and integration into Mission Systems.
Qualifications
BEng with honours in an Engineering or related Discipline (or equivalent qualification and/or experience), CEng is desirable.
