Description

The Laboratory Technician Level 3 is a 21-month apprenticeship delivered through a blended learning approach through online and on-site learning.

Role details:

• Run project work packages and serve as a resource on other M&I projects.
• Assist the Entomology team to co-ordinate laboratory workloads in order to deliver projects on time, in full.
• Report on project progression through all Project Stage Gates in conjunction with Project Managers, and assist with project documentation.
• Alongside the Entomology team, ensuring the insect colonies and associated laboratory equipment and test rooms are maintained in a state of readiness for test work, and fit for display to visiting staff or customers.
• Maintaining a sound understanding of pest insect biology in order to adapt and improve culturing techniques for all species held in the Power centre and be able to explain their relevance to pest control.
• To conduct informative and engaging Entomology Lab Tours for a variety of visitors, from internal colleagues to customers.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently
• Positive approach to early stage research project challenges
• Willingness to understand, execute and where necessary improve current processes
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent working knowledge of desktop publishing packages, particularly Microsoft Office and / or Google Cloud software.

Qualifications

• GCSE level English, Maths and preferably one science subject
