Social media plays a pivotal role in our ability to reach, inspire and entice millions of new and existing customers to fly with Virgin Atlantic, building our brand and engaging our people to advocate for us in the world outside. This postholder will be responsible for developing and leading impactful social media strategy across both consumer and corporate social media platforms globally, with a focus on UK and US markets.

Day to day

Some of your key responsibilities as our Senior Social Media Manager will be to:

• Drive and deliver a thought leadership programme for Virgin Atlantic and the Senior Leadership Team, operating and advising at the most senior level of the enterprise to build reputation.

• Play a key role in supporting and delivering our Communications strategy, with the ambition of impactful storytelling to boost reputation, building brand power by driving customer preference to support revenue growth, and driving happiness by fostering a sense of belonging with our people.

• Be accountable for strategic oversight of the performance of consumer & corporate platforms, with responsibility for delivering a content storytelling strategy to inspire, excite and engage our people, customers and external partners.

• Work in partnership with the Communications and Marketing teams to implement and track return on investment through activation, measurement and evaluation across all platforms, providing strategic counsel on the optimal channel mix to maximise reach.

• Work closely with Brand on targeted paid social and with CRM and Data on using new data to target comms to evolve customer behaviours. The focus will be split between UK and US markets, where social is a key communication channel for earned, owned and paid.

• Lead the development of an impactful influencer and advocacy programme which will be a game-changer. This network will support corporate narrative & brand connections planning, amplifying Word of Mouth and Influencer reach and delivering value through earned media, while engaging our people.

• Use critical thinking and act as a consumer champion, working across functions spanning Communications, Marketing, Brand, Creative, E-Commerce, Loyalty, CRM, Data and more, communicating with teams in global markets.

About you

Do you have experience working in international markets? In particular, the US?

Do you love working for a customer centric brand?

You might come from a similar Senior Manager or Head of Social Media role.

In addition to the above, we’d love for our successful Senior Social Media Manager to demonstrate the following:

• Digitally native, with extensive experience working with strategy, either in house or agency side in a relevant field.

• Experience defining social strategy to support communications and deliver superior outcomes.

• Consistent track record growing social media presence for leading brand/and or CEO/company founder.

• Experience working into the C-suite and influencing partners at senior levels of the company hierarchy.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; highly nuanced communicator and able to influence with ease.

• Exceptional creative flair and an intrinsic understanding of the brand vision and values.

• The ability to work under pressure to deliver integrated solutions often to tight deadlines and budgets.

• Experience working in/ with international markets desirable

• Significant experience leading and developing teams to strong performance
