HR ADMINISTRATOR

Required to start ASAP

Fixed term for a year – Flexibility on hours per week.

Either Full time (37 hours per week) or Part time (minimum 25 hours per week); We will also consider applicants who would like to work term time only (40 weeks per year).

The 25 hours can be worked over 4 or 5 days per week and the exact start and finish times are negotiable and to be agreed, between the hours of 8:00am and 5:30pm.

You will be required to work on Mondays due to the needs of the team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well organised person to join our busy HR department. This is a fixed term post due to a re-structuring of the HR team while the HR Manager is on maternity leave. You will be working closely with the Senior HR Advisor (Recruitment Co-ordinator) and assisting the recruitment needs of the College. You will also support the wider HR team with the administration of a variety of HR functions.

This is an ideal role for someone who is considering moving into HR or is currently working in HR/recruitment and wishes to gain further experience. Although this post is largely administrative, there will be opportunities to get involved in all aspects of HR work. This will enable the person appointed to gain some generalist HR experience and at the same time develop their knowledge about working in the Education sector.

As a successful and thriving Sixth Form College with around 3,000 students and 320 staff, we are seeking to appoint someone who can bring flexibility, commitment and energy to this important job. In return you will join a vibrant college community with an informal working environment. The College is an open and friendly place to work, with staff that are very supportive of each other, and a range of benefits offered to ensure health and well- being.

The salary for a full time post working 52 weeks per year will be £20,771 per annum. This salary is based on spine point 8 within grade 3 of the Support Staff pay spine. The holiday entitlement is 24 days per annum.

The salary will be pro-rated if you are offered a part time and term time only post. If you work 40 weeks per year (Term Time only), you will be paid for 5.6 weeks of holiday pay.

Company

We are a successful Sixth Form College, graded as Outstanding by Ofsted in 2012.

About 50% of our students come from Brighton and Hove, but many come from other state and independent schools throughout Sussex. The same variety of backgrounds, cultures and interests that make the Brighton area unique, also makes the College a lively, stimulating place to work.

There are approximately 2500 students on roll, of whom the vast majority (approximately 99%) follow Level 3 courses (mostly AS, A levels or BTECs) with the remainder following ESOL courses. The vast majority of our students are in the 16-19 age range, and following full-time courses. We have a strong local reputation for the academic success of our students and for our focus on individuals’ needs.

We are very proud of the achievements of our students and very much value the individual contribution that each of our staff make to our continuing success.  Our last staff satisfaction survey found that nearly 90% of staff at BHASVIC enjoyed their job.

The College is within walking distance of Brighton town centre, Brighton train station and is on a main bus route.  Please note that there is limited parking on the College campus and parking permits are allocated according to the distance you have to travel to work.

We offer a good package of employee benefits including:

  • A family friendly approach to help achieve a healthy work/life balance.
  • Membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme for all our teaching staff.
  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme for all our support staff.

  • We support the principles of the ‘Living Wage’
  • Childcare Vouchers
  • Cycle Scheme
  • Canteen and café on site for both staff and students
  • Free tea, coffee and newspapers provided in the staff room
