Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to provide a professional leadership role for education and training across the Psychological Professions (PP) in SPFT. The person in this role will join the Director of PP, Nick Lake, and Associate Directors of PP, Sophie Holmes and Nick Grey, in the central PP directorate. It would suit someone wanting to gain more experience in providing professional leadership and supporting the expansion of the PP workforce, including our relationships and worktogether with universities.

The work will include responsibilities across the range of PP E&T activities, as the NHS look to expand the psychological professions. These include pre-registration roles such as the scheme to increase access to clinical psychology with Assistant Psychologists from underrepresented backgrounds. The post-holder will support the trust's core professional placement provision, and provision of CPD, across the psychological professions.

The post holder will utilise research skills for audit, service development and research within education and training of PP and maintain and develop relationships with training providers.

Main duties of the job

To lead on agreed parts of the clinical and social care governance framework within the care group/service. You will be responsible for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the specified service.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines. To supervise and support the psychological assessment and practice provided by other psychologists, psychological therapists and other clinical members of the service who provide psychologically based care and treatment and to provide clinical and professional leadership to appropriate clinical staff.

To plan, organise and contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the team's operational policies and services, through the deployment of professional skills in research, service evaluation and audit, and to advise both service and professional management on those aspects of the service where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing.

Working for our organisation

Sussex Partnership provides mental health and learning disability care for children, young people and adults across Sussex and Hampshire.

You'll be joining an organisation which is committed to improving patient care. We try to do this by listening to and learning from feedback, carrying our healthcare research and putting it into practice, developing new ways of providing services in partnership with others, and helping staff develop through access to education and training.

With services covering Sussex, Hampshire and Kent, there's plenty of choice about where to work and live if you join us. We've got the sea right on our doorstep, as well as the vibrant city of Brighton and Hove, areas of natural outstanding beauty and many historic towns.

Excellent transport links make it easy to commute to work from London to many of our services and sites. Or you may be someone who has been doing the commute in the other direction and is now looking to work closer to home.
