An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust as a Performance Analyst within the Trust's Performance Team.

This post offers the chance for you to develop and strengthen your skills and abilities, whilst giving you the autonomy to shine. You'll be an integral part of our ambition to continually improve performance support to our clinical services and develop further our reporting and analysis.

To succeed in this position, the right applicant must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interpret data from numerous sources. They should also have experience of day-to-day performance monitoring and strong numerical skills.

You will be part of our friendly, supportive, and innovative Performance Team and will work closely with operational teams within the Trust. Our Trust provides a wide range of services, including community nurses delivering care to patients in their homes, specialists nurses providing care to patients with long term conditions and multidisciplinary services to children across Sussex.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will report to our Senior Performance Analysts. They'll support the Trust's services to understand and improve further the care provided to their patients. The role is a varied combination of regular performance reporting, bespoke analysis and developing our next generation of self-service data using Qlik Sense.

The post holder will input into highly complex analytical and statistical reporting. This will include written reports, dashboards, and presentations, using innovative and forward-thinking techniques to support the presentation of data.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Development and delivery of performance reports:
  1. Work with colleagues across the Trust to gather reporting requirements and scope performance dashboards to meet the services and commissioners needs
  2. Receive and/or gather raw data from a range of sources. Analyse this and benchmark it against performance indicators in accordance with team methods and protocols.
  3. Prepare clear, concise performance reports, customised as necessary for a range of audiences, using specialist software to provide high standards of presentation of complex analysis.
  4. Ensure reports are available in line with scheduled reporting timelines and/or meetings.
  5. Respond to questions about methods used to develop reports raised by non-specialists

Contribute to the development and review of systems and methods used by the information team:
  1. Keep abreast of changes in technology and information analysis methods
  2. Contribute to discussion about proposed improvements to methods and systems
  3. Devise training materials, presentations, and practical exercises to support workshops and training events aimed at enabling non-specialists to make good use of performance reports.
  4. Support workshops and training events by giving presentations, facilitating practical exercises and responding to questions raised by participants
  5. Support the evaluation of workshops. Collate feedback to analyse themes for future sessions.

Contribute to the development and review of Trust information systems:
  1. Participate in projects and initiatives to review and develop specific information from system applications.
  2. Participate in projects and initiatives to review and develop improved data flows
  3. Contribute expertise and knowledge as an 'expert end user' of data and software.
  4. Carry out specific delegated tasks within the remit of a project team as directed.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential
  • Educated to degree standard or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Minimum of one year's experience working in a management information environment, analysing complex data using a variety of sources/information systems
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines and unpredictable workload patterns
  • Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills
  • Makes cohesive plans for projects or events, providing clear details and timescales for other people involved
  • Ability to process and analyse data within reporting timescales to high standards of presentation and accuracy
  • Uses advanced skills in use of standard Microsoft Office software particularly Excel to conduct sophisticated data analysis and format reports to a high standard of presentation and accuracy
  • Uses creative flair to create and present clear, concise attractive performance reports and dashboards that meet users' need
  • Ability to work as an effective team member

  • Knowledge of SystmOne
  • Experience using Qlik or other Business Intelligence tools
  • Basic to intermediate SQL Management Studio Skills
  • One year's experience in using data modelling techniques and methodologies
  • Experience of participating in projects managed through a formal project management methodology
  • NHS experience within a provider setting, or other relevant NHS experience
  • Experience of managing or mentoring staff
