What is the Programme?

Its for 2 years. And will help you to understand more about running our Airport. Tailored to suit you. You will be able to give your best and to redefine what's possible. You will be involved in live projects that deliver what matters. Part of the programme will include a leadership development module with the other graduates and a dedicated coach (a senior leader from the business) who will help to build resilience in the workplace.

When it comes to the strategic heart of Gatwick Airport the Corporate Affairs, Planning and Sustainability (CAPS) team help plan for the future whilst protecting and enhancing Gatwick's reputation. We raise the standard of how our business is perceived inside and out.

Our priorities are planning, sustainability, noise and airspace and communications, but we need to  focus on stakeholder engagement too. This includes forming strong economic partnerships and influencing policy. ​

You'll take part in placements across the CommunicationsEngagement and Policy and Sustainability teams, being involved in projects that develop key corporate priorities. 

The Communications team plays a key role in our objective to: ‘foster excitement and pride in working at Gatwick Airport' for our people. Our Engagement and Policy team nurture key relationships across government, Members of Parliament, locally elected representatives and leaders across our economy. Our media and digital teams ensure we are positioning the airport in the right way.

We want to grow in the most sustainable way. That's where the Sustainability team come in. They lead on our Decade of Change initiative which is now in its second decade, challenging us to be the UK's most sustainable airport. The  Airspace team is focused on reducing the environmental impact, reviewing and implementing cutting-edge technology and operational innovation to limit the impact of airport noise.

The Planning team paves the way for investment in projects that serve our customers and enable our growth, considering our sustainable aspirations. We're be working to secure consent for the routine operation of our northern runway, a nationally significant infrastructure project, that you could play an active part in delivering

During your time with CAPS your specific accountabilities may include:

  • Sustainability projects and performance including data collection, analysis and reporting
  • Research and input to national policy development/responses
  • Working with colleagues across Gatwick to facilitate change and improve sustainability performance
  • Drafting communications internally and externally and engaging stakeholders around key corporate priorities
  • Speaking with journalists and handling media queries
  • Creating content and engaging with our stakeholders on social media and utilising analytics and data to ensure maximum impact.

  • Minimum 2:1 degree (or projected for 2023) from the past 2 years
  • Logical thinker with an aptitude for problem-solving
  • Highly numerate, with an understanding of Data analysis
  • Ability to prioritise and work at pace
  • Ability to build good relationships and influence across the Airport
  • Creative, innovative, curious to find a better way
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, always trying to be your best self
  • Team working- you'll enjoy working in a team environment, sharing ideas, and collaborating with colleagues as well as other graduates

Selection Process

  1. An online application that will involve a CV – closing date 30th November 2022
  2. Online assessments to demonstrate your strengths and the necessary behaviours to be successful
  3. If successful a virtual 1st stage screening call

An assessment centre with group and individual activities as well as a behaviour-based interview with the opportunity to meet managers and explore the airport.
