Job Details
Our volunteers are at the heart of everything our charity does, and we truly appreciate their kind support. You will be working with fellow volunteers, for 2-20 hrs per month, delivering friendly and supportive hearing aid maintenance services and hearing loss information & advice in your local area.
Our Hearing Aid Maintenance sessions are at:
Chantry House, 22 Upperton Road, Eastbourne, BN21 1BF
64 Kingfisher Drive, Langney Shopping Centre, Eastbourne, BN23 7RT
15 Marina, Bexhill-on-Sea, TN40 1JS
The Hub on Rye Hill, Rye TN31 7UD
2-3 Station Road, Bank Buildings, Hastings, TN34 1NG
What you’ll be doing:
- meeting and greeting members of the public
- keeping records of help given
- check and clean hearing aids
- replace hearing aid tubing
- check hearing aid batteries and issue replacement batteries
- provide basic guidance on use and care of hearing aids
- provide general hearing loss information and advice, including signposting to other services
You will need good communication skills, a friendly and caring disposition plus reasonable manual dexterity.
Hearing loss experience - whether personal, professional, family or friends - is an advantage but not essential.

East Sussex Hearing is a small independent charity based in Eastbourne. We have been serving the deaf and hard of hearing community throughout East Sussex for over 20 years.
The Centre is run by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. As well as providing support from Centre, we also provide outreach services to provide help and support throughout the county.

Our Resource Centre
Located in Eastbourne, Centre is open to the public for free advice and information on all aspects of hearing loss on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm.
