Driver: Presteigne Broadcast Hire

Position: Driver

Reports to: Ricky Dymond Head of Operations

Location: The Brunel Centre, Unit 8 & 9 Newton Road, Crawley RH10 9TU

Purpose of role

As one of our drivers, you will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery of goods to predetermined customers on specific routes, reviewing orders prior to delivery, loading and unloading trucks and providing exceptional customer service to our client base. You will report to the Transport Supervisor at our Crawley Base. The Driver role sits within the Transport Department, which is headed up by the Head of Operations.

• To ensure a professional and helpful approach to all clients at all times
• Conduct daily inspections of vehicle(s) before commencing daily duties
• To ensure both driver and van are in impeccably presentable condition at all times
• Pack, load and secure equipment onto vehicles according to company’s specifications
• Deliver and collect orders to/from customers on assigned routes
• Maintain ongoing communication with route dispatcher/transport manager/line manger
• Unload goods as per client specifications
• Review deliveries with customers to ensure products meet their needs
• Obtain delivery confirmations from each customer
• Obtain information relating to competitors whilst delivering and collecting from client locations
• Warehouse duties to include maintenance, lifting, tidying and other duties as required
• Telephone answering duties when required
• Keep the vehicle in excellent condition including valeting
• Carry out periodical vehicle checks including oil and water levels and tyre pressures etc
• Complying with the Company’s Driving Safety Handbook and Policies and Procedures Manual

Person Specification

Essential

• Minimum 1 years’ experience as a delivery driver
• Clean driving record
• Ability to pass company driving test, background check and drug test
• Strong customer service skills
• Must be flexible and possess a positive, can-do, professional attitude
• Must have excellent time keeping
• Must be an excellent communicator
• Must have excellent work ethics
• Ability to work with own initiative and to proactively engage with the team
• Professional appearance and etiquette
• To be an ambassador for Presteigne Broadcast Hire Ltd
• Flexibility towards hours worked as and when required

• Good sense of humour

Special conditions

The role works on a shift basis between 08:00 to 19:00, Monday to Friday, as a result your hours may be scheduled for any 9-hour period (which includes an hour lunch break), per day, within this period.

Overtime/weekend work may be required within this position but is planned in advance.
