Job overview

This role will be challenging, working across a complex suite of programmes and organisations. This will require the ability to develop practical, innovative and creative solutions to the management of issues, not least of which will be developing understanding around the work and how this is intrinsic and integral to the delivery of the wider programme. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skills are essential for the role This role will involve liaising with internal and external senior stakeholders to deliver projects and initiatives.

SHCP is committed to a wide-ranging portfolio of programmes which draw on the new partnership arrangements within the ICS for delivery. Programmes are arranged within three Collaborative Networks and four Enabling Programmes.

The Mental Health Collaborative are recruiting a project manager to support delivery of outcomes, value-based healthcare, health inequalities work and supporting the population health agenda

Main duties of the job
  • As Project Manager you will support the programme lead to ensure that their work stream is planned and managed effectively.
  • You will be personally responsible for the delivery of one or more projects within the ICS Mental Health programme to time, budget and the required quality.
  • Applying project management, quality improvement and best practice tools and techniques in a consistent manner across the projects within your responsibility.
  • Get along side teams in delivering and evaluating outcomes and impact.
  • Identify project risks and escalate as and when appropriate ensuring proactive and timely resolution.
  • Provide coordination of and participate in relevant internal and external working/steering groups and provide project advice, expertise and support where required.
  • Provide relevant and timely specialist advice and guidance on own portfolio of projects/function.
  • Work with the Head of Programme and members of the wider team to investigate the causes of any variance from target/plan and proactively contribute to the implementation of solutions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • You will be responsible for the definition, initiation and delivery of a number of projects within agreed workstream(s) including managing resources for it as required.

  • You will be required to maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external, clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met.

  • You will participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services and initiatives to provide, information and analytical advice and expertise.

  • Present information and issues, explaining highly complex issues, to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Maintain appropriate project documentation including, highlight reports, exception reports, risk logs, issues logs, Project Initiation Documents, Project Plans, etc.

  • Report to the Head of Programme and to the appropriate Project/Programme meetings with progress of the project(s) within the post holder's area of responsibility, escalating issues as

Essential
Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Formal qualification and/or substantial working knowledge of MS Project or similar planning tool.
  • Demonstrated experience of managing projects in complex and challenging environments, including all stages: Initiation, startup, planning, execution, benefits realisation and closure.
  • Experience of managing and reporting project progress, risks and issues through appropriate logs and Highlight/Exception reports.
  • Experience of managing Project Board meetings include the setting of agenda, drafting all associated papers and correspondence and presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to senior stakeholders and a broad range of stakeholders as required
  • Demonstrated capability to act upon incomplete information, using experience to make inferences and decision making
  • Ability to develop Project Initiation Documents following Business Case approval and building on the details in the Business Case.
  • Able to work on own initiative, organising and prioritising own and others workloads to changing and often tight deadlines.
  • Skills in planning techniques including Gantt Charts, Pert analysis, Project Breakdown Structures and Resource Estimation.
