This is an exciting opportunity to join The School of Architecture, Technology & Engineering as part of a highly creative and experienced team, providing technical resource and demonstrations to support teaching and model making activities in Architecture and Design.

Using your creative designing and making experience you will deliver a broad range of inspiring designing and making opportunities, training and advice to all students from complete beginners to post-graduate professionals, enabling them to develop into confident and inquisitive designers and communicators.  You will work alongside the academic team and the Technical Manager to organise technical demonstrations, inductions and instruction for students, along with providing specialist professional advice to students, ensuring their understanding of skills and applications are met.

It is essential that you can work independently in a highly organised manner, contributing to team decision-making in a positive and professional way and commit to the development of designing and making across the wider School as it builds its national reputation as a centre of creativity and sustainability excellence. 

In order to be successful in this role, you should have:

• The ability to communicate clearly with students and colleagues from many diverse backgrounds and abilities

• Experience of specific techniques, skills and media related to the subject area of architectural model making

• Experience of a range of workshop techniques and skills relating to wood, metal, plastic and casting

• Experience of a variety of Experience of specialist software as outlined in the job description

 

This post is offered on a full-time (37 hours per week), and permanent contract.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships 

This is a grant-funded scheme which enables companies to access resources and expertise they need to innovate, grow and improve their performance.
