Job summary We are seeking to recruit a knowledgeable, creative and dynamic individual to join the well-established Brighton CAMHS Assertive Outreach Team (CAOT). We are a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team, offering flexible, creative and accessible support to young people who are unable to access mainstream mental health services and would benefit from an outreach approach. CAOT works closely with both CAMHS and Adult Mental Health Services, as we support young people aged 14-25. Our work includes assessing young people's mental health, risk management and care planning, and working with families and the wider systems around young people. We aim to enable young people to access mental health support who would not otherwise be able to, either as a result of their mental health needs or due to other social or environmental factors. Young people referred to CAOT have often experienced services as unhelpful or inaccessible and may be reluctant to attend a clinic or access formal mental health support, despite having a mental health need. We offer bespoke support and interventions and we aim to 'meet young people where they are' both physically and emotionally. Main duties of the job As a Mental Health Practitioner in our team you will provide assessment and bespoke interventions for children and young people referred into our service. Flexibility, creativity and passion are highly valued within our small MDT team and we work closely with one another to develop care plans and interventions to meet a wide range of needs. Our team covers the Brighton and Hove area and we are based largely out of a vibrant youth centre - The Young People Centre - in the Lanes however we work across the city, visiting young people at home, at school/college or at other locations that support them to be able to engage with us including going for walks or drives. During the current Covid-19 pandemic we have continued to offer a face to face service where clinically indicated however we are also able to offer virtual and phone appointments, further increasing our reach. Contributing to the management of a team caseload of clients with complex needs, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. We follow a multi-disciplinary approach and as such you will provide specialist assessment and intervention utilising a range of approaches. This post offers a Golden Hello, or a Relocation package up to a maximum of £2000. (pro rata applies and subject to terms and conditions. Please see attached Protocol document).
