Finance Business Partner

Are you our next Finance Business Partner? Due to recent internal promotion, we are looking for someone who can help us redefine what's possible across our Finance function, Business Partnering team, and relevant business areas.

The role is responsible for providing financial business partnering to the different business units at Gatwick Airport, in all financial aspects of commercial, operational planning, reporting and control. The role will report into the Head of Finance Business Partnering but will also have a dotted line into the department head for the functions being supported.

A strong communicator whose focus is on providing high quality business partnering - interpreting, explaining, and driving performance within the business.

What will you do? (Accountabilities)
  • Deliver all the management reporting and insight - leading and influencing key operational and strategic decisions
  • Lead all the management accounting tasks - lead the process to ensure that timely, accurate and relevant information is delivered.
  • Be the finance lead for operating costs and certain income lines across GAL encompassing all functional areas.
  • Partner with the relevant stakeholders to deliver high quality financial and commercial support, advice, analysis and insight on current business performance, whilst sharing best practice.
  • Lead and drive financial and operational performance within the individual business unit and be accountable for ensuring income and cost targets are achieved.
  • Provide forecasts and analysis to help drive direction and continual assessment of that performance. Track risks and opportunities to form a monthly view on year-to-go Outlook
  • Develop strong working relationships with Capital Project Management and Partnering teams, and other key stakeholders, to ensure timely input of realistic costs and benefits assigned to projects, and also ensuring that these are met and built into appropriate budgets, forecasts and plans.
  • Lead all the financial elements of all business cases and ensure that assumptions are robust, have been challenged and hold true. Ensure that all costs and benefits are incorporated into budget targets and undertake post project reviews to ensure all benefits and/or impacts are delivered and challenge outcomes where necessary
  • Provide strong line management and direction to a small team of finance analysts.


Do you have what we're looking for? (Skills & experience)
  • Fully qualified accountant (ideally CIMA or ACCA)
  • Competent to a high standard using Excel, PowerPoint and SAP
  • Proven experience supporting business leaders in a fast paced commercial and operational environment with a strong emphasis on driving change and adding value.
  • Ability to interpret and clearly articulate the financial performance of each function, identifying risks and opportunities as well as key drivers of performance.
  • Be expert in understanding past performance for your area, you should be able to explain past performance, trends and key drivers.
  • Ability to support business leaders in assigned business units to educate teams and communicate annual financial and non-financial targets and performance to those targets.
  • Support the business to identify and follow through on any mitigating actions required. Make sure these actions are tracked and delivered.
  • Strong eye for detail and track record of project management/demonstrating ability to prioritise.
  • Provide strong line management, direction and challenge to direct reports. Provide clear direction, structure and support, ensuring that activities are logically prioritised, and time is also afforded to making improvements and developing the team
  • Experience of influencing and presenting compelling arguments through written, numerical and oral presentations
