Job summary Occupational Therapist (mixed rotational) Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust with Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our new mixed Preceptorship rotation. The posts are based in the beautiful West Sussex towns of Chichester and Bognor. These posts are open to new graduates, those due to qualify soon, Occupational Therapists wishing to return to practice and more experienced Occupational Therapists who want to broaden their clinical skills in a variety of specialities. We are looking for highly motivated applicants with excellent communication skills and a drive for clinical excellence. The rotation facilitates the development of skills and competencies beyond graduate level in a variety of clinical specialties, both physical and mental health. Main duties of the job The rotation facilitates the development of skills and competencies beyond graduate level in a variety of clinical specialties, both physical and mental health. These include:
  • Working Age Acute Mental Health - Acute inpatient service based at Oaklands Hospital in Chichester. Great opportunities for developing your assessment and individual and group intervention skills
  • In-patient Mental Health Rehabilitation - Based at Connolly House rehabilitation unit, Chichester. An amazing opportunity to work alongside people who have experienced psychosis and use your OT skills to support recovery and community participation
  • Community Mental Health Rehabilitation - Based in Bognor Bedale Centre and covering the Bognor, Chichester and Midhurst area.
  • Community Therapy Hubs - Working closely with other members of the MDT to provide holistic rehabilitation in people's homes following hospital admission or to reduce the risk of hospital admission. The large, friendly community team is based at Bicentenial House in Chichester.
  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Services - OT rehabilitation at Don Baines Intermediate Care Unit at Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital. Supporting through individual and group work the ward with facilitating intensive rehabilitation to support people safely back to their own homes.
Each rotation lasts six months. The rotational scheme works in partnership with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust

About us About us You will be part of a preceptorship programme, have a personalised development plan, regular supervision and a diverse range of AHP and Occupational Therapy specific training and CPD opportunities to develop your occupational therapy knowledge and skills. Our rotations offer great peer support. We understand the transition from student to practitioner and are well set up to support you in your new occupational therapy career. We have included three job descriptions for your information. You will be employed by the Trust where you first start your rotation in. Two of the job descriptions are for a Band 5 OT Pre Preceptorship or Post Preceptorship for Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust and the other job description is if you are employed by Sussex Community Foundation Trust.
