Job Details

Martlets have collection pots placed in a variety of businesses across Brighton and Hove. These need to be collected, substituted, and returned to the Fundraising office on a regular basis. We are looking for volunteers to help us with this important fundraising and community liaison role. We are specifically looking for support in Newhaven and Peacehaven at this time.

We are looking for charismatic volunteers to help us re-establish the Martlets presence in the community post-pandemic. Our collection pot volunteers will be the face of the Fundraising team: you will have an assigned area and build relationships with your collection pot hosts within that area, updating them on the news from Martlets as well as collecting fundraising income. Each volunteer will be our representative and point of knowledge for that locality, helping the fundraising team to raise awareness of the Martlets cause across the region.

What will I be doing?

This role facilitates the smooth collection and renewal of donation boxes:

  • Collecting empty boxes from the fundraising office to distribute
  • Collecting donation boxes from a variety of venues in your agreed area and returning them to the fundraising office
  • Reacting to occasional additional requests for collections

Where? Various locations around Newhaven or Peacehaven

When? Regular routine, 6–8-week cycle. This is usually between 2 and 4 hrs per week commitment. The collection routine can be flexible to fit with your schedule

Anything else I should know? We are able to pay travel expenses such as local bus fares and train tickets to help you access this volunteering role.

Company

Martlets is a charity that cares for people living through a terminal illness in and around Brighton and Hove.
We're much more than a hospice. Most of our patients are cared for in their own home.

Our team supports people to live their lives to the full, taking the time to give exceptional care. We're also here for their family and friends- bringing comfort, compassion and support when it matters most.

Thanks to the generosity of local people, our care is free for everyone who needs it. Although we're not part of the NHS, we work in close partnership with them.
