Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support a team of specialist podiatrists and administrators, as well as the orthotics team for a fixed term period of 12 months. The role is accountable for working with the General Manager and Clinical Service Manager / Professional Lead and the wider Senior Management Team to ensure the operational delivery of a high quality and efficient service. We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, motivated, patient-focused, and committed Operational team leader, with a passion for supporting your colleagues to join the Podiatry team covering Crawley, Horsham, and Mid-Sussex sites.

The successful applicant will be extremely organised and can work independently under their own initiative whilst recognising the importance and value of working within the wider specialist team. They must be committed to improving patient care and developing high quality services, focusing on improving patient outcomes.

Applicants must be HCPC registered and be able to demonstrate up to date knowledge of working with podiatric patients, as well as having a broad range of experience working within the NHS.

It is essential that applicants hold a full UK driving license and have a car available for work, as the Podiatry Team Lead will be required to travel between SCFT community sites.

Main duties of the job

  • To line manage allocated staff to include, recruitment process, sickness and absence monitoring and disciplinary/ performance issues.
  • To report, investigate and manage incidents, sharing learning from incidents and risk with the team and wider organisation as appropriate.
  • To manage complaints in accordance with Trust policy and share learning across the team.
  • To work with multi-disciplinary leads to deliver services that support skill sharing across professions and bandings and develops a competency driven, flexible and responsive workforce.
  • To ensure effective delegation as per Trust guidelines and to support the implementation of the Calderdale framework and skill sharing initiatives.
  • To ensure all staff attend statutory and mandatory training.
  • To work alongside other leads to manage the support staff workloads, integrating skill sharing initiatives.
  • To support undergraduate occupational podiatry student placements within the relevant areas of work and support the clinical staff supervising the students.
  • To provide performance information to service managers to support the delivery of KPIs, management of demand and capacity and to inform future workforce, skill mix requirements and service development.

    • Professional qualification such as a degree or equivalent in Podiatry
    • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Podiatrist
    • Evidence of relevant postgraduate courses / CPD and reflective practice relevant to clinical specialty
    • Management qualification or willingness to undertake
    • Evidence of a range of clinical competencies appropriate for the role
    • Evidence of leadership education / development or a willingness to undertake this

    Desirable
    • Post Registration qualification or training to masters level or equivalent and experience

    Essential
    • Experience of managing a team or other relevant management experience
    • Experience of supervision provision
    • Significant experience of working in the clinical setting
