Senior Technical Personal Injury Handler Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage and negotiate all serious injury claims from new claim stage to conclusion
  • Responsible for the sign off bodily injury reserves between £35,000 and £55,000 per claim
  • Manage and negotiate a small caseload of development files outside own authority limit on strict referral of up to £100,000
  • Be fully conversant with the relevant sections of MOJ Reforms, Civil Procedure Rules, Personal Injury Pre-Action Protocol and Road Traffic Act and the implications of being RTA/ARTICLE 75 insurer up to £55,000
  • Ensure that any bodily injury claims which exceed the large loss criteria are reviewed and promptly reported to the Large Loss team
  • Manage Third Party Property Damage (TPPD), including credit hire claims, in accordance with FCIM’s procedural requirements and own authority limits
  • Proactively manage all incoming correspondence using telephone, e-mail and letter and manage incoming telephone calls
  • Identify potential fraudulent claims and pursue potential recoveries from the relevant parties
  • Responsible for ensuring the reserves fully reflect the level of damages to be paid on each file
  • Process and authorise claim payments in accordance with personal authority
  • Ensure Quality Assurance and adherence to handling protocols and reserving
  • Provide direct feedback to handlers, utilising coaching skills to further develop handlers to ensure improvements in claims handling
  • Proactive management, assessment and sign off all litigation including tracking trends and identifying process improvements   
  • Act as a mentor and referral point to Level 1 and Level 2 Injury handlers
  • As directed provide technical advice, training and support to other areas within Claims in Injury and all related matters
  • Assist the Third-Party Claims management team in developing and managing departmental procedures
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and business partners
  • Participate in Supplier audits as requested   


Senior Technical Personal Injury Handler Experience & Knowledge:

  • Strong technical motor claims experience working within a bodily injury claims environment
  • Technical expertise with exposure to serious bodily injury claims, including but not limited to fractures and psychological trauma
  • Proven track record in personal injury claim handling, including dealing with personal injury claims within and out with the RTA Portal
  • Experience handling claims within an OIC (Official Injury Claims) Portal or similar
  • Technical expertise with exposure to third party claims including credit hire and liability
  • Knowledge of regulatory framework relating to Motor Claims and the main principles of English Law
  • Previous knowledge of FCA requirements (including TCF) and the regulatory framework relating to Motor claims
  • Understanding of all aspects of motor claims, to include credit hire and potential fraud
  • Conversant with the all sections of Pre-Action Protocol for Low Value Personal Injury Claims, Civil Procedure Rules and the Road Traffic Act (RTA)
  • Understanding of the RTA and Article 75 status within Motor Claims
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong auditing and coaching skills and ability to mentor others
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
