The Manor Royal BID is the largest Business Improvement District operating in a business park anywhere in the UK.

The successful candidate will join a small, friendly team dedicated to improving Manor Royal and supporting the people and businesses that work here.

The role

You will play a key role in overseeing the development, design and delivery of an exciting new project related to helping businesses and their staff to make the most of the benefits provided by the BID in encouraging their staff to walk, cycle, travel by bus or car share. 

The “Move It” Project is an entirely new project with its own budget that you will manage to promote initiatives and services already available and to design new ones. You will have the freedom to suggest new promotional activities, including organising events, roadshows, designing literature and helping to organise campaigns to get Manor Royal employees moving more sustainably, save money, help the environment, improve people’s health and easing congestion along the way.

Not only will you be part of a small and friendly BID team, you will also get to work with and enjoy the support of our wider network of supportive partners, including; eastNETWORK, Metrobus, West Sussex County Council and Crawley Borough Council. They are ready and willing to welcome and help you succeed.


This is a part-time post that will be ideal for someone who enjoys business engagement, project management, event planning while working as part of a small team and alongside others to get the job done.

While you will be expected to spend time in the office and on Manor Royal in Crawley, the Manor Royal BID is committed to people enjoying a decent work-life balance and is supportive of flexible working. 

*Note: this post is funded for at least two years with the possibility for extension.

Skills & Experience:

Experience

  • Grade C in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable experience working in a project environment
  • Experience of managing project budgets
  • Self-motivated and disciplined. Ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication and (written and oral) and presentation skills.
  • An outgoing, “people person” with a friendly personality
  • Experience of business engagement with the confidence to approach, enthuse and build effective working relationships with a range of different businesses.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Strong interpersonal relationship-building skills with a pro-active behaviour and attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • IT literate and familiar with Microsoft Office including Excel, Powerpoint and Word

Desirable

  • Experience of providing travel planning advice or similar
  • Event management
