Fire Alarm Engineer

Are you our next Fire Alarm Engineer? We are looking for someone who can help us redefine what's possible for are Engineering Team. This is a shift-based role.

As part of our 'Grow with Gatwick' initiative you'll be provided with plenty of training and support to ensure you're developing and growing your career.

The Engineering team deliver what matters. They protect, maintain, and repair our infrastructure. From the electricity that powers this place. Giant plant rooms that heat and cool the airport. To the specialist equipment on the airfield too!

What is the role?

The Engineering team protects, maintains and repairs Gatwick's infrastructure, from the electricity that powers this place to the giant plant rooms that heat and cool the airport, and there's some pretty specialist equipment on the airfield too!

The Fire Alarm Engineer will be responsible for delivering a high quality, reliable service to passengers, tenants and other internal / external customers, through effective and efficient maintenance of airport life safety and controls assets comprising of fire alarm systems, PAVA systems, smoke extract and ventilation, wet systems, smoke curtains, fire shutters, BMS and lighting systems, ensuring that duties are undertaken to the highest of standards, with an eye on continuous improvement, and maximising operational uptime.

What will you do?
  • Undertake planned preventative/corrective maintenance, mindful of asset performance and operational requirements.
  • Ensure all engineering and operational records are updated to meet business, regulatory and manufacturer requirements.
  • Pro-actively undertake and support performance improvement activities/programmes.
  • Take responsibility for safety, including others as part of a legal responsibility such as the wearing of PPE, completing mandatory training and the reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses.
  • Actively use GAL IT systems (Ultimo, MyHub, P2W, Microsoft Office) as required.
  • Actively upgrade skills and knowledge to maintain and operate existing and new assets to ensure they are maintained in a manner which keeps them performing at a required level
  • Undertake role specific training required for the role
  • Working in passenger facing areas, as well as back of house areas (check in zones, baggage halls, comms rooms, security etc.) across the airport campus.
  • Working collaboratively. This role has no direct reports.

Do you have what we're looking for?
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work on own initiative without close supervision and be self-motivated
  • Understanding and proven experience in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to carry out system performance improvements

Are you?
  • A qualified Engineer
  • Knowledgeable of 17 th Edition IEE wiring regulations
  • The owner of a driving licence
