Job Title:  Senior Software Engineer – Flight Simulation

Job Location:  UK - Crawley - West Sussex

Role overview:

As a Senior Flight Simulation Software Engineer, you will work in the Simulation Technologies & Infrastructure Chapter in the Software Engineering department. You will be responsible for developing, integrating and supporting a multitude of different applications / systems used on our flight training simulators. You will be working as part of a multi-skilled team and allocated specific tasks in line with project schedules. Occasional shift work and travel may be required.

Your typical day to day responsibilities would include:

  • Software development, configuration, customisation, integration, maintenance and support
  • Support of Integration, Validation and Verification activities on simulators
  • Support of Software Baseline Management activities

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Practical experience of C programming
  • An aptitude for problem solving
  • Ability to read & write technical English
  • Self-motivated and able to work with a minimal level of supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and supervisors
  • Proactive in moving the company forward
  • Displays energy, drive, agility, and resilience in achieving work-related goals
  • Able to occasionally work on customer sites, typically overseas for periods ranging from 1 week to 2 months in a 6-month+ period
  • Flexibility in working hours as required to meet project needs
  • Able to work effectively when under pressure

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Practical experience of real-time programming
  • Practical experience of Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
  • Practical experience of Windows application development using Visual Studio
  • Practical experience of C++ programming
  • Practical experience of ADA programming
  • Knowledge of ARINC protocols
  • Knowledge of aircraft Avionics Systems
  • Knowledge of aircraft Flight Management Systems
  • Knowledge of aircraft Cockpit Display Systems

Qualification and educational requirements:

  • A suitable degree or equivalent (with mathematics, science or engineering content) and a minimum 8 years’ relevant experience.
