The Hove Club is a private members' clubs, based on Fourth Avenue in Hove, East Sussex.  The Club is a member only establishment and is a place for food, drinks, hospitality, friendship and social interaction. The Club is set within the beautiful surroundings of a 19th Century, Grade 2 listed building and gardens. 

The Role

The role of Club General Manager is a newly created role brought about by the growth in members, and to support the Club through a period of change and progression.  Reporting to the Committee, with an immediate start, the General Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Club.

As an experienced General Manager, you will be responsible for working alongside our existing team members and being responsible for:

  • Management of front of house and back of house operations
  • Finance and stock
  • Property and equipment maintenance and planning Security of the building
  • People management, development and staffing levels
  • Growth of club membership and the marketing of the Club

The General Manager will be contracted for 40 hours per week, to be worked five days out of seven, Monday to Sunday, including evenings and weekends. This is a paid role with a starting salary up to £50,000 per year, based on experience.



The ideal candidate must have good customer service skills and experience, and good food and drink knowledge preferably within a members’ club environment or high-quality hospitality venue. 

We are looking for candidates possessing the following skills:

  • Previous proven experience of managing Food and Beverage (F&B) operations
  • Collaborative and self-motivated with initiative to improve operations
  • Well organised, with attention to detail and driven by results and meeting required deadlines
  • Finance expertise and understanding of Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, budgets, accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Be able to proactively solve problems Possess exceptional customer service skills
  • Previous experience of people management and leadership
  • Strong coaching, counselling, listening, facilitation, negotiation, advocacy, and networking skills
