Elekta Limited is recruiting a Senior Strategic Buyer – Direct Material to work in the Procurement function. This position is located at Elekta’s UK office in Crawley and will report to the

Procurement Lead, also located in UK. The role sits within the Linac business line of the company.

WHAT YOU’LL DO AT ELEKTA

The purpose of the role of Senior Strategic Buyer is to source and manage direct material spend across a number of categories, driving our supply chain to deliver world class results.

Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 

  • Support in the development of global sourcing strategies for allocated categories/suppliers taking due account of stakeholder mapping, spend analysis, understanding of current and future demands, supplier improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation plans in order to secure business continuity.
  • Responsible for the evaluation and selection of suppliers in compliance with the Elekta sourcing process, whilst ensuring selection is robust and fit for purpose.
  • Negotiate best practice terms with suppliers.
  • Ensure robust supply agreements are in place with key suppliers.
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance on cost, quality, delivery, innovation, service and sustainability.
  • Continuously develop and maintain supplier relationship management strategies including a governance structure and use of regular business reviews ensuring an inclusive approach to supplier management.
  • Work closely with the key stakeholders to develop effective cost reduction, efficiency and supplier quality improvement strategies and implement these.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing procurement best practices. 

RELEVANT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To be a suitable candidate for this position you will need extensive Buying or Category Management experience, ideally for direct materials and within a technically complex manufacturing environment although an indirect background is also possible. The priority is on the soft skills required for the position, and having a positive, ‘can-do’ and determined mindset. An undergraduate degree or higher qualification as a minimum is required alongside your working experience. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of sourcing strategy development and deployment, financial concepts and the ability to create business cases
  • Experience with contract management and awareness and understanding of contractual law
  • Demonstrable record of delivering stretching targets and successfully managing concurrent tasks
  • Experience at managing a complex global supply base, ideally with integrator type suppliers and/or co-developing designs with supplier partners
  • Good working understanding of purchasing ERP systems
  • To be proficient working in a matrix environment and able to work independently •             Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) certification (or similar) is desirable
  • Fluent in English. Other languages are advantageous.
