In a nutshell

The role as Manager – Network Optimisation & Analysis is integral to Virgin Atlantic’s success – the post holder will play a key role in optimising revenue and costs through using detailed analysis to optimise, predominantly, mid-term flying programs. You’ll be using state of the art, industry leading software/systems and work with an amazing team of people, for an amazing airline!


Day to day

- Lead holistic midterm optimisation of flying program for Virgin Atlantic for the next 3-9 months, by optimising revenue and costs, track commercial performance, seasonality opportunities and operational optimisation
- Lead changes and recommendation through our cross functional planning forums with monthly handover to short term optimisation
- Develop and manage in-house Optimiser tool, including responsibility for all key inputs and outputs
- Post audit and monthly reporting of network optimisation performance
- Establish schedule quality review and track performance of flying program including planning parameters, inefficiencies and improvements
- Manage out for sale capacity in 3-9 months horizon
- Act as a key focal point between the Short Term Optimisation and long-term slots and scheduling
- Coordinate and communicate with JV Partners
- Communicate changes and recommendations internally and coordinate with key stakeholders across commercial, customer and operations


About you

Are you an experienced aviation networks professional who gets motivated by delivering improvements, highly analytical and passionate about what you do? If so, we think this would be the ideal role for you. In order to perform effectively in this role (and enjoy it), we would require you to have the following skills and experience:

- Experience within the aviation industry, preferably in planning function
- Persuading and influencing others based on facts and evidence
- Excellent analytical and numeracy skills with proven experience in analytical function
- Excellent business understanding, with ability to understand aviation planning holistically
- Great communicating & influencing skills, in particular with internal stakeholders
- Proven ability to solve problems through the application of logical thought
- Exceptional attention to detail and a thorough approach to accurate task completion
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in scheduling and slot tools is an advantage
- Excellent team player
